A Man and a Cigarette

On the streets of downtown Manhattan, an everyday moment becomes a little story: a man lights a cigarette while the city continues its march.

Captured in that fleeting moment, his gaze fixed on the lens establishes a silent connection between a stranger and my camera, between his urban environment and a human being who walks through the city. It is as if, for a second, our realities crossed, giving life to a scene that could go unnoticed, but that, when stopped, invites us to reflect on the relationship between the individual, the city that surrounds him, and a stranger like me.
